Global Effects of COVID19: Letter Template for Change

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused a rift in the way major companies have been doing business in the fashion industry, bringing a spotlight on how workers within the supply chain are treated. More than ever before, we need come together to create a more sustainable and inclusive work environment where workers are protected during the pandemic, getting paid fairly, and treated with human decency.

Fashion Revolution Week happens every year to commemorate the 2013 Rana Plaza collapse and to remember the lives lost and injured during one of the largest industrial disasters in history. This has inspired a global awakening, and people all over have used their voice and purchasing power to vote for change. However, this is just the beginning of the narrative. Please join us in our quest for change until a full transformation has been made that ensures every worker in the supply chain is treated fairly, paid properly, and have safe working conditions.

Join us in signing the #PayUp petition from Change.org below to help save the lives of all the workers that make our clothes and hold large corporations accountable.
Below is an email template you can use to ask brands who made your clothes:

Dear  < Brand name >,

I am your customer and I love your style. However, I also care about the rights and wellbeing of the people who make my clothes. In the 7 years since the Rana Plaza tragedy in Bangladesh, not enough has changed. Too many people in fashion’s supply chain earn incredibly low wages, lack the ability to negotiate or unionize and many work in conditions of modern slavery.

It is very important to me that people working in your supply chain are seen, heard, paid properly and working in safe conditions. So please tell me #WhoMadeMyClothes and where I can find out more information about your supply chain.
